This is probably going to be my longest post ever! I try to not to have a really long blog posts but I have so many great images to show you from this wedding and had trouble narrowing it down. Stephanie and Jason live got married at the amazingly beautiful Anthem Country Club. The views of the Strip from the reception are incredible, especially knowing that it’s half an hour away!

The story of how Stephanie and Jason met is one of the cutest stories I have ever heard. I think I may have already blogged it when I did their engagement session a few months ago, but I love it so much I am going to tell it again. In fact, Jason retold the story to everyone during the reception and I was tearing up because it was so touching and everyone could feel the love Jason has for Stephanie. They were both in Vegas for different reasons – Stephanie was in town for her friend’s bachelorette party and Jason was in town for a job interview. They didn’t meet until the end of their Vegas stay, when they both got stuck at the airport because their flight back to Ohio got canceled. Jason said as he was trying to rebook his flight, he noticed a beautiful girl in line talking on her pink Razr (Y’all still remember those? Those seem like ages ago now!). He said it was love at first sight and they spent the new several hours getting to know each other and the rest was history. Jason got the job he interviewed at, and then some months later, Stephanie decided to make the leap and move out to Vegas too. Isn’t that the cutest story you’ve ever heard?! It sounds like something straight out of a movie. :)

We started out getting ready at the Tropicana Hotel.

This hallway of shops at the Tropicana is so cool and modern and I took a quick picture of the girls as we were walking to meet Jason.

Stephanie and Jason’s first look. It was honestly the most heartwarming first look I’ve ever photographed! It was so full of emotion.

We stopped at the Las Vegas sign for a quick bridal party pic.

Stephanie and Jason invited me to their rehearsal dinner the night before, insisted that I don’t take any pictures (I couldn’t help myself but I did take just a few), so it was great to get to know their families beforehand. Stephanie’s dad is so funny and I love this picture because he was so calm and happy on their wedding day.

Stephanie and Jason had a Jewish wedding, so they had a ketubah signing before the ceremony, which is an intimate ritual before the wedding and only the closest friends and family attend.

One of my favorite parts of photographing the wedding day are these next two minutes: the father walking the bride down the aisle, the groom waiting patiently to see his bride, and the father giving away his daughter. This part gets me every time!

So by the time we got to the portraits, the sun had gone down already! Thankfully I brought along an assistant for this wedding and she held my lights for me.

The reception at Anthem Country Club is so pretty! I loved their choices of having a black, white, and red theme because the red really brightened up the reception. And I looooved their cake toppers! It is a custom cake topper that looks like them in their Ohio State jerseys, feature their two cute dogs, and it even has their last name on the back, just like a real jersey!

So my favorite part of Jewish weddings is definitely the hora! It is so fun having all your friends and family come out to the dance floor. Also, the reactions of people’s faces when they are hoisted up in the air like that is priceless.

I never know if my couples are going to smash each other with cake or not, but I am always ready to capture it if it does happen. :)

Great candid shots are also impossible to time, but they are also my favs. I adore this picture of Stephanie and Jason having a great time at their wedding.

Colleen + Paul married!

June 15, 2011

Last month, Colleen and Paul flew in from New York to get married here in Las Vegas. I didn’t meet them until 2 days before the wedding, and we only talked on the phone until then. But Colleen was really sweet over the phone, and they sounded like a very laid back couple. When I met them in person, I got to know them a little more, and they were so calm when I met them. There were no jitters that I could see, but maybe because they have been dating for over a decade!

Forty of their closest friends and family flew out to celebrate their wedding day with them. It was a beautiful, intimate wedding held at Caesar’s Palace.

I loved Colleen’s flower girl! She was so precious and had on the cutest flower girl dress! The wedding gazebo is out by the pool so that’s why we are passing by the towel station.

The gardens at Caesar’s Palace is gorgeous! They recently changed the rules and no longer allow brides to bring outside photographers, so this may be my first and last time photographing here! So sad!

I found out Paul absolutely hates taking pictures, so I tried to do the bride and groom portraits as fast and painless as possible. I am not sure if Paul would agree, but he looks happy that I’m taking his picture here!

While waiting for the limo, I was able to sneak in a few more portraits by the front gardens of Caesar’s. Such an adorable couple!

Colleen ended up hiring a limo to take them to the reception at Maggiano’s. Originally she wanted to walk since it’s only a block, but it is one very looong block, especially when it is hot outside and you are in a wedding dress!

Paul used to compete professionally in motocross, and so Colleen surprised him with a motocross cake! I love the originality of the cake and how the tires make up the layers of the cake, and was really well designed.

Colleen had pink uplighting, which was a great touch to the dance floor! And yes, that is the flower doing “the sprinkler”! Love it!

Monique and Michael

September 10, 2009

Frank and I flew to sunny California a few weeks ago for my former college roommate’s wedding.  I knew before I even landed that it was going to be a fabulous wedding because Monique is so great at planning and organizing.  She was so organized, when we arrived at the ceremony, she was greeting us at the gate instead of running around getting ready!  Monique was a really relaxed bride considering she woke up super early, had two tea ceremonies in two different locations, and lunch with all her relatives, all before the ceremony and ten-course Chinese banquet!  Not to mention she did her own flowers and centerpieces the night before!  I loved all the details she incorporated into the wedding, and how well she was able to transform Michael’s parents’ backyard into a beautiful outdoor wedding venue!  I had so much fun taking Monique’s wedding, and I made sure to stay way behind from her professional photographers, which made me really wish I owned a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens.

Isn’t this lemonade stand adorable?

Monique wore several dresses throughout the day and looked AMAZING in all of them!

I really love her floral arrangements! They were so stunning and modern. The parasols came in handy because it was really hot! The only problem was that everyone was using them and blocking my view of the ceremony! I was constantly shifting in my seat, and finally, I just walked all the way up the aisle to get some shots.

Sadly, some guests made off with all the champagne, so the restaurant brought out red wine instead. I didn’t know about the mishap until later, and I thought they planned on toasting with red wine! Regardless, I loved how this picture turned out.

This was my first time seeing a photo booth at a wedding and it was so cool! There was a line for the booth the whole night.
