After my anniversary shoot taken by my very good friend Shang Chen (click to see her pics from my session!), we did a portrait session for her so she could get some updated headshots. This session was a blast and I love how the photos turned out! These images bring a smile to my face because not only does it show off Shang’s fun and bubbly personality, but how content she is too.
Shang really wanted some photos in the desert, so we went over to Red Rock Canyon. Even though there is very little vegetation in the desert, I find it to be oddly beautiful, especially against the mountains. I also got a chance to play with Shang’s brand new Nikon 35mm 1.4 lens! Several images below are taken with her lens. I think one day I will probably have to get this lens too because it’s really awesome!
See what I mean about the desert? Breathtaking!

Shang is looking so content here that I almost didn’t want to disturb her! But it was so cold that we probably only lasted 10 minutes out here and ran back to the car to warm up. Yes it was that cold! I totally did not think to bring my gloves.

I love how the wind is blowing through her hair here.

I don’t use sepia very often but I saw this photo and it screamed sepia at me. Okay, it didn’t actually scream at me, but I immediately knew how I wanted to process this photo.

Awesome shots! The lens looks super good, too:)
these are beautiful! shang looks so happy in these… loving the pop of pink in the landscapes.
So cute! I love the Sepia one and the image of her laying down on the rocks. She looks so relaxed in all of these.
Love it! Great job Emily!
yah i’m soo surprised you guys don’t look cold at all!! soo beautiful!
Aw, what a pretty, cute & fun set …. And that backdrop …. to die for!
These photos are brilliant! Of course you know my favorite is the ‘skipping’ one but that first picture is a stunner as well. Excellent work
I love, love, LOVE these photos. Also, I really don’t look cold! Haha surprised because I know I was shivering through most of the photos without my jacket
Great job Emily! Love them.
love that last image. These are great. Looks like it was really fun!
