Baby session

May 21, 2010

Nancy and Vic have the cutest, most adorable daughter! I had the pleasure of photographing their new family, and I could have totally photographed their baby all day! She is such a good baby and didn’t make a fuss. It’s very hard to plan baby shoots because you never know when they are going to take a nap. I was hoping that she would nap and be all refreshed when I came over to their place, but that didn’t happen. I like to think that she was too excited for her shoot hehe! Right after the session, she immediately conked out! It was so cute!

We shot this is March when we had beautiful weather, so this was one of the first times she was actually outside for an extended period of time. I don’t think she liked the wind!

I wasn’t able to take many pictures in her crib before she fell asleep on me. She’s so cute even when she’s sleeping!

Yay, spring is here! I recently had the opportunity to shoot a family session with my friends Liz and Doug when I was visiting DC last month. It was a gorgeous afternoon in Maryland, so we drove out to Brookside Gardens in Silver Spring. Most of the flowers hadn’t bloomed yet, so Liz didn’t recognize that she had actually been to this park before. In fact, they were last here for their wedding pictures! To be fair, their wedding photographer didn’t tell them where they were going, and it does look entirely different when the flowers aren’t in bloom.

Liz originally wanted pictures of only her son, but I couldn’t resist taking pictures of all three of them! I really adored capturing the interactions and the love of this family. I’ve known their son since the day he was born, and he’s always been somewhat of a shy guy, so I was thrilled when he let me take so many pictures of him! Also, special thanks to my friend Clara for assisting on this shoot and getting everyone to look at the camera!

When Lydia asked me to do a maternity session, I was super excited! I love how more and more couples are deciding to document the baby’s life/parenthood from pregnancy. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the beginning of your family than with photos. I flew down to DC and the weather was super nice. We decided to at the Strathmore Music Center in Bethesda, which is a really nice modern building with high ceilings. It is an amazing place if you are looking for a wedding venue in Maryland.

Stay tuned, I’ll have an engagement session that I’ll be posting later this week!

Shang and Andrew

December 22, 2009

Last weekend, I had an opportunity to photograph Shang and Andrew. They are such a cute couple, and I’m so excited to share their photos with you! Shang (of Shang Chen Photography) was so nice to set up a workshop for a group of assistant photographers, and they were the subjects! We shot outside at a nearby park, and they were good sports to brave the freezing cold. On the bright side, it was so cold that there were no kids playing in the playground, so we were able to shoot in the park all to ourselves with no distractions!

I am so pleased about how these pictures turned out, and now I am no longer a weenie about shooting in the cold (I bought fingerless gloves which really helps!). Anyone else up for a winter shoot? :)

I am usually assisting Shang on photoshoots, so I don’t really see her interacting with her boyfriend Andrew. I saw a different side of her during the shoot, and I was almost in joyful tears seeing how tender and caring they are with each other. I caught myself several times saying “awww!”

I was recently introduced to Animoto and was totally floored! Their slideshows are so cool and easy to make. I just tried out the free 30 second slideshow and made a slideshow of Shang and Andrew! Leave a comment and let me know if you prefer the Animoto slideshow or traditional slideshows instead.

Olivia

November 17, 2009

I wanted to post this session before I leave tomorrow for my upcoming trip DC and Chicago (contact me if you want a shoot while I’m in town!). I was super excited to do a shoot with Olivia, who is studying theater arts to become an actress. It was raining literally all weekend, but the rain stopped and the sun came out right when I was leaving my house for the session. To top it all off, it was warm too! So I knew this shoot was going to be awesome!  We ended up walking around Brookline and found some cool places to shoot!  I had so much fun editing these pics, that I had such a hard time picking out which ones to show you!  If you want to see all the photos, head over here.

Isn’t Olivia gorgeous?!  I am so jealous of her long eyelashes!

Sandy

October 1, 2009

I’ve been good friends with Sandy since my freshman year of college.  We both moved to the East Coast after college, and now we’re in the same city!  (Friends who attended my wedding may also know her as my Maid of Honor.)  She’s an awesome teacher, and needed some pics for the teacher bulletin board, so we went to Muddy River Riverway Park (known to locals as “The Riverway”) in Boston for pictures.  I had such a blast with Sandy, and I’m excited to shoot more if anyone wants awesome pictures! =) To see more, click here.

Fall is coming and the leaves are so pretty! But the yellow leaves reflect so much light, so I plan on using a polarizer filter for next time.

She can only be serious for so long before she starts bursting into laughter!  I love it!  Sandy has such a nice smile!

I asked Sandy to run towards me and got this shot. This is probably my favorite photo.

Harvard girls photoshoot

September 24, 2009

I had the honor of assisting Shang Chen Photography on Labor Day! We had an awesome session with five Harvard girls who wanted to do a group shoot! Such a great idea! It was only fitting then that we take them on the Harvard campus, and then took some shots by the Charles River. I carried a lot of bags that day and observed Shang’s shooting style. Every once in a while, I was able to take a shot or two, but she is so fast at shooting and posing that I could barely keep up! Thanks Shang for letting me shadow! Click here to see her pictures and blogpost about the shoot.

I love how Shang posed them here with the two girls laying down!  So cute!

The girls were so sweet and invited us to eat with them in their dorm cafeteria after the shoot.  It’s been a long time since I’ve eaten at a dorm, and I have to say, I kinda miss it! The food was really yummy and the dining hall looked a little like Hogwarts! Thanks girls!
