I really didn’t know much about the photography industry until I was engaged. My friend sent me a lot of links of her favorite wedding photographers, and I was literally blown away! I had no idea how amazing, creative, and natural wedding photography could be! Up until then, I had really been exposed to traditional wedding and studio photography. I got so caught up on reading wedding photography blogs that I couldn’t keep up!
After interviewing several photographers for my own wedding and seeing how much they genuinely loved their jobs, I realized that I really wanted to be involved in something that would bring joy and happiness to people’s lives. I decided that in addition to the nature photography and the casual pictures I take, I want to create beautiful portraits and document special events. I’ve decided to set up a blog to document my progress and to showcase my work.
I want to thank my friends and family who have supported and truly believed in me. Special thanks to Shang Chen for investing her precious time in me so I can become a better photographer. From the bottom of my heart, thanks guys!
Photography & me: a timeline
I fell in love with photography when I took a class in high school. We were learning with film cameras and it was so much fun tinkering with all the dials on the camera and developing black-and-white photos in our school’s dark room. My favorite part of the class was the section on portraits and lighting, because I really loved the images I created. Then I became fascinated with digital cameras (I’ve owned 6 of them..4 of them are still around the house and in working condition), but it always left me with wanting the old SLR film cameras. I bought a new point-and-shoot camera almost every year because the technology was changing so rapidly, and I finally bought a DSLR when I thought to myself, ok, maybe I’ll finally stop upgrading. I’m now trying to resist the urge in buying any new equipment (Ok who am I kidding? I’m obsessed with having the latest gadgets!) and really trying to focus on mastering photography techniques and photo editing.
