Another engagement session is hitting the blog! I have a 3 more sessions in Boston to blog about, one in Chicago, and then I will move to what I am doing in Las Vegas! I am excited about this year so far, and can’t wait to unveil new things soon! I am working on revamping the blog, so stay tuned for more details!

I think Amy and Tim first contacted me in May for a session, but we ended up pushing it all the way to October. So I was looking forward to shooting their engagement session for a long time. And when we finally met up to talk about what kind of engagement session they wanted, I could not have asked for a sweeter couple. They both went to school at Boston College, but didn’t meet each other until they had both graduated and moved to New York. They both thought, “Hey that person looks familiar!” Turns out they recognize each other from school but never actually talked. Until meeting up with friends in New York. Isn’t that crazy! And now they are happily engaged and back in Boston for Tim’s graduate school.

They wanted to shoot in Harvard Square and they wanted a very Cambridge feel, and nothing says Cambridge like ivy growing on the walls. I found a nice patch to play in! I love this picture because their eyes and smile really come out in this picture, and their clothing choices are amazing against this backdrop!

Sometimes I like to tell my couples to ignore that I am there taking pictures of them, so they can loosen up, though sometimes couples get nervous when I don’t give them something to do. But Amy and Tim didn’t need to loosen up much at all because…

We walked around Cambridge some more. This was my third session in Harvard Square, and I always find new backdrops to shoot, i.e., sides of restaurants.

Parking garages are nice too. This garage was exceptionally cool because it was painted a blue-green color.

There aren’t that many maple trees in the city for some reason (maybe because they drop a lot of leaves?), but they should have more because the leaves turn into this gorgeous red color. It’s so beautiful watching the leaves change color! Maple trees are my favorite.

Rhonda and Christy live in Texas and planned for a small backyard wedding in Boston. Rhonda lived in Boston years ago and contacted me to do a day after session in Boston. Traditionally, day after sessions are for when the wedding day is so packed and the bride and groom don’t have time to take portraits on their wedding day, so they opt to do them a day later. Well Rhonda and Christy wanted a casual type shoot, so this was more like an engagement shoot. Rhonda and Christy are so fun! I really enjoyed hanging out with them, and was really sad when our session was over. Sometimes I find it hard to part with my couples because you get to know them so much during the session, and then it’s like saying bye to a good friend! I know this may sound like I’m crazy because I’ve only known them for a short amount of time, but I get that way sometimes. Yes, Rhonda and Christy are an amazing couple. :)

We started off near Congress Street, and slide into this alley. I can always depend on Boston to have cool alleys!

Rhonda and Christy met while working at Starbucks, so it was only fitting to have them pose with the logo! They wouldn’t let me take pictures inside the Starbucks even though we begged (corporate policy), so we took our drinks outside. Now this picture is dated, ha, because now they’ve changed the logo.

Then we walked over to Christopher Columbus park because it was Christopher Columbus Day! Okay, I didn’t realize this until after the fact, but I thought it would be cool to add that part in. :)

Rhonda is a photographer too, and she wanted me to take a behind the scenes shot of her in action! So we ended up having a mini-session during our session! So fun!

Red Rock Canyon is just ten minutes away from my home in Las Vegas or about forty minutes from the Strip. It is a hidden gem that is often overshadowed by its big brother, the Grand Canyon, which is just a few hours away. But Red Rock Canyon is totally different from the Grand Canyon, and I always encourage people to go to both when they visit Las Vegas! Most people don’t usually leave the Strip, so few actually know that there is a lot of great outdoors stuff to do here. I love Red Rock so much that I bought an annual pass because I want to do lots of hiking with my husband and anyone else that wants to go! I had several guests/family visit us during the holidays, so naturally I took them to Red Rock, and they loved it! One thing I recommend is that you wear good shoes because the trails can be quite steep and there are loose pebbles.

I took this panoramic when the sun was just starting to set, so you can see there is a sunny spot where the sun broke through the clouds. Breathtaking right?

These shots were taken on two different days, so that’s why this picture look a bit sunnier than the last one. But don’t be deceived! It was really cold and I had to bust out my gloves! We had record lows over New Year’s and the temperature was in the 30s.

It’s hard to tell on this panoramic because I had to shrink it down, but in person, you can see the lights from Las Vegas Boulevard. It is just beyond the red rock. If you look really closely in the picture, you can see a tiny yellow round dot. This is a really nice spot to watch the sun set over Las Vegas. :)

If anyone wants to do a shoot at Red Rock with me–couples shoot, engagement shoot, trash the dress..anything, I am up for it! It’ll be a ton of fun!

Ok my first post of the new year! Jen and Ben got married back in September at the beautiful Henderson House in Weston, MA. You may remember their cuteengagement session back in June in Boston Public Garden and Beacon Hill. I absolutely adore this couple! They are both really good-natured and fun to be around. I had a blast getting to know them from the time they booked me to their wedding. I like getting to know my couples and having them trust me as their photographer. A couple of days before the wedding, we decided to move the wedding outdoors, and I couldn’t have been happier! It was a gorgeous wedding and the weather cooperated very nicely!

Following traditional Jewish customs, Jee and Ben had the ketubah signing before the ceremony.

All the family members held hands as the rabbi said a blessing. It was very touching!

We were able to sneak away from everyone else for some bride and groom portraits before the ceremony. Every couple should schedule some time alone because your day will be so hectic! It is nice to have some peace and quiet, and you can just pretend I am not there too. :)

Jee walked down the aisle with both her parents! Genius! Seriously, why did I think of that? :)

Jee and Ben have a great sense of humor, and let their story unfold of how they met at the ceremony. They met through a mutual friend, and verbatim quotes of chat conversations were read aloud during the ceremony of what they first thought of each other. It was hilarious and no one could stop laughing! I know I am not showing many pictures of the wedding guests cracking up but just trust me on this one! :)
