I had the pleasure of taking engagement pictures of my good friends Vivian and Mark. They are getting married on Saturday in New Jersey, and I am super excited! My first wedding this year as a guest! They’ve lived in Cambridge for the last few years, so it was only fitting to take pictures at Harvard Square where they spent the most time as a couple.

Vivian and Mark at both attending the same business school in the fall, so that’s why Mark is holding up the Harvard Business Review. Vivian is reading for leisure. :)

We shot very early in the morning but the sun was still really bright, so I thought today would be a great day to get a little lens flare!

The month of May was super busy for me because had a lot of engagement sessions, and I’m finally getting around to blogging them all. This is the last one for a while, so soon you’ll be seeing a lot more weddings! Stay tuned!

Jee and Ben are getting married in September and I am so blessed to be photographing their wedding! They are an amazing couple and met up with me on an early Saturday morning so we could shoot without lots of people in the background. Well guess what? Half of Boston was already up and strolling through the parks because it was such a lovely day. I was utterly amazed at how early Bostonians woke up and started their day. So I think I will schedule any future engagement shoots in popular public spaces even earlier now!

Jee and Ben were up for anything (I heart laid-back couples!), so we started the session having a ton of fun and riding the teacup and carousel at Boston Common.

It was incredibly windy that day, but I like how the wind is blowing Jee’s hair in every direction.

We found an amazing tree to shoot under! I’ve been to the Boston Public Gardens several times, and I always find something new there to photograph!

Then we wandered over to Beacon Hill. Jee and Ben live in this neighborhood but they’ve never been to this street, which is one of the most photographed streets in Boston, so I was happy to show them this hidden gem! Streets like these is why I love Boston! We were lucky to the street to ourselves when we were shooting because there were a lot of tourists and another photographer when we left!

Ming the pug

June 15, 2010

It’s been a crazy month so far! First of all, I traveled to Washington DC to attend my 10-year high school reunion (long story, my high school is actually in Germany but we decided to hold it in DC instead) and reconnected with a lot of people. Then I flew with my husband to Las Vegas where we signed a lease for an apartment, and we will calling Las Vegas home for the next 4 years! I will be moving there in late October after I wrap up my last wedding of the season.

I was also featured in Beantown Bride last week, so if you’ve never read the blog before, check it out! It’s a great resource if you’re planning a wedding in Boston.

There will be lots of posts in the next few weeks, so stay tuned! Meanwhile, here are some pics of my friend’s pug. Ming is a 10-year old pug with cataracts and a crooked tongue. These pics were just for fun since I don’t claim to be a pet photographer of any sort and know nothing about dogs. But since Ming has really short legs and is a slower dog, I thought it might be an easier dog to chase around. I actually had the opposite problem though because she kept walking towards me, and I kept having to back up! The first set is of her yawn. I had no idea dogs could have such long tongues!

Public garden wedding

June 7, 2010

The wedding season has only just begun, and I’m already back at the Public Garden. It is a very popular place for brides and grooms to get married because it’s such a great park and it’s fantastic for small, simple weddings. I had the pleasure of second shooting for Lloyd Mandrell Photography. I love second shooting because I can hang in the back with my zoom lens and take candids.

I saw some a couple of swans nesting at the park.

They found a great spot under a willow tree, and it was really nice to be partially in the shade because it was really sunny that day!

White Mountains trip

June 2, 2010

We decided to celebrate our one-year wedding anniversary up in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Being Memorial Day weekend, we didn’t want to travel anywhere where we would be stuck in a lot of traffic, so the White Mountains were perfect because most people were heading on either I-95 or Mass Pike and not I-93. The mountains are part of the Appalachian mountains and are really beautiful, especially in the fall when the leaves change color. I was tempted but I did not lug my big prof camera with me because I didn’t want to hike with it, so these are taken with my point-and-shoot and my smaller DSLR.

Frank likes adventure type stuff, so I surprised him by booking a canopy tour, also known as a zipline tour at the Bretton Woods ski resort, and they operate year round. We had 8 people in our group and it took about 3 hours to go through 10 ziplines, 3 rappels, and 2 sky bridges. I am not really fond of heights but I thought it would be a neat way to see the White Mountains. Finishing the course was a major accomplishment for me!! Thankfully it was not a very windy day because you are on these tiny platforms up to 180ft above ground, so any breeze sways the platform back and forth.

The first half of our group was very adventurous and jumped up and down the whole time they were on the sky bridge to make it sway a lot. I asked my group if we could just walk normally and they were really nice about not getting crazy.

Yes that is me!

This one was the longest and highest at 800ft long and 180ft above ground. As I was zipping above all the trees, I felt like I was a bird!

There were 3 rappels, and this was by far the highest. It looks scarier than it really is, but then again, I didn’t look down the whole time I was descending.

Then the next day we went hiking and visited some of the waterfalls in the White Mountains. There are a lot of really great hiking trails to choose from! We accidentally did a hard one (you may want to consult a tour book to figure out which trails are easy, moderate, or hard), and were pretty tired afterwards.
